It’s not easy to admit, but I was not prepared for Bangkok. I did no research. I didn’t look at Bangkok packing lists, I didn’t look at City Guides, I winged it. I brought Summer items that I thought would be acceptable and while physically I felt “cooler” (temperature wise here people) I felt so out of place and stuck out like a sore thumb. Sometimes I looked around and just felt so naive. I hate not dressing taking the culture into consideration and I totally messed up. So, what did I do? I went and dropped far too much money at some of the local shops to get a few items that would help me blend in with the locals and still keep me cool. So, I’ve compiled a comprehensive packing list that will have you ready for anything while in Bangkok. Strapless for hot days out, with layers to cover your shoulders when needed (temples, nice restaurant, really most places if you want to fit in). If there’s one thing I learned about Bangkok it’s that it’s hot, stuffy, humid and unforgiving! Luckily there is plenty of yummy food and awesome shopping to make up for it.
