Beachside Boutique Inn
It will not be easy to forget the way it felt waking up to golden morning light sifting in between the palm leaves that framed the window facing the beach. After one night at the Beachside Boutique Inn my body knew how to adjust to island time. We woke up slow, drank coffee and walked to the beach while the sun came up. The water was still too cold to swim in so the beach was pretty empty but we didn’t care. The wind was warm and made it feel like Summer even though it was still early Spring. I spent a week in Folly Beach and left my heart there when I came home.
I discovered this little inn by complete chance while browsing online and the minute I saw the photos, I knew I was going to fall in love with all of it’s quirky charms (and the quirky innkeepers!). The beach, which was about a five minute walk from the inn, was impossible not to fall in love with. I didn’t want to leave. The Beachside Boutique Inn was about a twenty minute drive from downtown and honestly, I couldn’t recommend the location more. I think most people get so wrapped up in visiting Charleston they forget that Charleston is more than just downtown. It’s Folly Beach and all of the other neighboring islands too. So, do yourself a favor and at least check this one out before booking your next trip!
The Beachside Boutique Inn is nestled quietly on a residential street just a few blocks from the iconic Folly Beach. The vibes as soon as you turn onto the palm lined street are unreal. I remember walking up the stone steps and pushing open the iron gate and I just instantly felt at home. The hammock in the front yard seems to be a really popular hangout among the outdoor guests. Whenever I walked outside a few little birds and a squirrel or two were climbing or hopping along.
I can’t stress location enough, this place is killer. Not only that but if you want to do some real exploring there are plenty of bikes on the property for guests to use and beach chairs and rentals.
TIP: Don’t be afraid to explore. There’s a common patio area out back with a bbq and a little beach bar area. A great place to throw together dinner al fresco!
The property itself is pretty diverse. There’s the main building which has two suites downstairs and two larger suites upstairs. It’s also where a continental breakfast is served each morning. There is a full kitchen and dining room area where guests can get together, play board games, and relax. In the front yard is a cottage reminiscent o a tiny house, called The Secret Cottage. This is where we stayed and we absolutely adored it. Honestly, I would live in it. In the backyard there are two more cottages, one is a private cottage like the one we stayed in and the other has three private rooms in it with shared common space. My favorite rooms were the Costa Rican Bungalow, The Secret Cottage and the Queen Ann Suite. All of the rooms are great but if you really crave privacy and like being able to come and go without disturbing anybody, then definitely book one of the private cottages
The Beachside Boutique Inn definitely makes you feel like family. The inn keeper in charge of the booking is one of nicest, friendliest people you will ever meet. If you’re looking for someone to show you around and point you to the best bars and restaurants, she is your gal.

You would be doing yourself an injustice by not taking the time to explore Folly Beach area. There are homey cafes with great comfort food and killer coffee, tons of eclectic restaurants (was dying to try this Asian Fusion restaurant but it just didn’t work out with timing), your standard souvenir shops (Yes, I bought TWO shirts), and a few choice bars. Then, of course, there’s also the beach, the pier, the palm lined residential streets that are a great place to Pokemon hunt if I do say so myself. Seriously, take the time to really take this place in.
TIP: Coffee at Black Magic is a must. I consider myself to be somewhat picky when it comes to coffee and this place knows how to make a serious cup of coffee. Unfortunately, I didn’t discover it until my last day here so do yourself a favor and don’t be like me!
